Black History Month Contest 2016

We are adding a new contest this year encompassing the significant military contributions made by African Americans over our country’s history. This year we encourage students to learn about a unique and highly decorated squadron encompassing the first black pilots in the American military known as the Red Tails in World War II.  This is open to all grades, K-12th for an essay or picture interpreting the history of this distinguished military group. A medal for first place for each grade will be awarded along with certificates and American flag pin for first through third places and all honorable mentions. Contact is Lisa Davis, 540-661-0454. Submissions are due 18 February.
